Rooted in tradition, my family heritage shapes who I am, carrying forward the values and stories of those who came before me.

My grandfather, Kim Tschang-Yeul, is an internationally renowned artist, known for his iconic depictions of water droplets. His work beautifully captures the delicate balance between simplicity and complexity, reflecting both nature’s purity and the depth of human emotions. Growing up with his art around me, I've come to admire not only his mastery of technique but also the profound philosophy behind each brushstroke.

My family has been deeply involved in preserving my grandfather Kim Tchang Yeol's artistic legacy, ensuring that his work continues to inspire future generations. We have worked to maintain and showcase his extensive body of art, curating exhibitions and collaborating with galleries and museums worldwide. Through these efforts, we aim to honor his vision and keep his unique portrayal of water droplets alive, connecting his artistic philosophy to new audiences while safeguarding his contribution to modern art.

Mom & Dad

My parents played a key role in collaborating with the Kim Tschang-Yeul Foundation to establish and curate a museum dedicated to my grandfather’s art. They worked diligently to ensure that his masterpieces and artistic vision are preserved and accessible to the public, allowing future generations to be inspired by his legacy.

My Uncle

My uncle directed the documentary film The Man Who Paints Water Drops, offering an intimate portrayal of my grandfather’s life, artistic journey, and the profound philosophy behind his iconic water droplet paintings. Through his film, he captured the essence of my grandfather’s creative process and shared the deeper meaning of his work with the world.

Me

I researched my grandfather by conducting interviews and gathering personal stories from my family members, gaining a deeper understanding of his life and work. Using these insights, I designed and printed a narrative brochure that introduced him from the unique perspective of his family. These brochures were then provided to visitors at the Kim Tschang-Yeul Art Museum, offering a more personal glimpse into his legacy.
